Web of gleaming gold

Slumbering

Breathe out
susurrus of coins
dance a merry tune

Breathe in
the sweet aroma of treasures horded

And more

What scent swirls across the tongue

flickering

tasting

a thief sneaking
hidden from dragon’s sight
but never from a dragons’ snout

Waiting

Lurking

A clink of coins
treasure tripped
cascade down
undoing wary steps before

ROARING
fury unleashed
serpent’s strike from gleaming viper’s nest

Death

clean
crisp
crunch of bones and gulp
gone

So fast that robber’s voice was snatched
before an utterance

Then back, below, treasure mound we go
fed until the next thief comes
to dance upon my web of gleaming gold

Slumbering
